Charleston Fashion Week: Part 1

This is Charleston's third annual Charleston Fashion Week!!! It is a five-night event that presents up and coming designers, as well as local designers and local boutiques. I am volunteering for 3 nights back stage and brought my new camera with me to highlight some great looks from the show.

I started last night, which was the second night into the week. Everything was well organized back stage and the energy was high! Boutique NV, Mary Porter Couture, II Brunettes, Copper Penny, and Billy Reid all showed their spring collections.

Mary Porter's collection is reminiscent of old-Hollywood fashion. The models had their prim updos and red lipstick on. It was a little dated for my own taste, but I am highlighting her because I adore her revival of the Marlyn Monroe Era and adding high glamour to the night.

My favorite show of the night belonged to II Brunettes. They are a boutique that brings in L.A. style to the low country. I loved their rocker-hippie vibe with headbands and big, long teased hair, but it was very similar to DVFs Spring 09 collection. Their styling was superb and very wearable. I have yet to visit the store, but I am definetly more inclined to go there and purchase something. Here are some of my favorite looks:

Lastly, I want to mention the amazing Billy Reid. His collection was very sophisticated and insipring. He has a mens and womens line suited for those very poised and confident. My favorite outfit of the night goes to this delicately pleated grey sleeveless dress. My friend Christina and I were admiring this look back stage. It is very sexy and playful. Cheers Mr. Reid!(Unfortunately my camera died right before this show hit the runway, I was lucky to get a picture backstage of this dress!)

Tonight is another night back at CFW. Its a thrill working back stage and chaotic. I will update tomorrow with some more pictures of tonight's shows.
